A collective experiment in textile, form, color, and movement

Mixed media (textile, video, projection, movement), 2026

Inspired by the Egungun masquerade rituals of Benin, I invited a group of women artist friends to collectively experiment with the creation of entities through the interaction with donated textiles, color, form, and projection. The process was centered on full bodily immersion within layers of fabric, as well as the activation of the body through the interaction with objects, guided by experimental soundscapes and digitally painted projections.

This research unfolds as a collective and intuitive process, where the construction of these entities emerges through movement, material exploration, and shared presence. Rather than aiming for fixed forms or final characters, the work investigates transformation, embodiment, and the relationship between body, textile, and image. Situated at an early stage of the research, this experiment functions as an open field for testing possibilities, gestures, and narratives that may continue to evolve over time.
